In January, we urged you to submit an objection regarding a proposed pig mega-farm in Norfolk, which planned to house 14,000 pigs, as well as a chicken farm with 714,000 birds spread across 20 large concrete sheds. After months of campaigning by key animal advocacy groups and hundreds of additional objections submitted by activists like yourself, King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council has REJECTED the application today!
The site is located near several European protected sites, and the council reported that the proposed 'public benefits' are outweighed by the potential environmental impacts that the farm will have on these areas. A key factor contributing to the rejection was the high volume of ammonia emissions anticipated from the site.
In the coming years, millions of pigs and chickens will be saved from a grotesque life on these intensive farms. Together, we're a powerful force, and when we come together like this, we can make waves against large corporations like Cranswick.
A huge thank you to Scrap Factory Farming and Cranswick Objection Group for spearheading this campaign.
Cranswick strongly fought back against the almost 15,000 objections, but justice has prevailed! I am ecstatic to be able to bring you this news. I hope this will be the first of many as more people start waking up to the devastating impacts of animal agriculture on our fellow animals and the environment.
As always,
For the animals.
