Firstly, a huge thank you to every animal rights group and activist who took part on the day, plus the dozens of people door-dropping our flyers over the weekend. And, of course, to everyone who has supported our campaign, shared our content online, and even told their friends and family about our heartbreaking findings.
We sent out almost 20,000 flyers around the UK, plus 630 factsheets and 126 posters!
On Saturday 11 September, TWENTY events took place throughout England, Scotland and Wales, reaching thousands of consumers on the streets! We joined Leicester Animal Rights for their event, where we debuted our brand-new bespoke milk carton prop! Did you see it on our social media?
For our National Day of Action, we have worked closely over the past few months with a bespoke prop company in East London. The idea behind the build was to highlight the dairy industry’s ‘NEW dirty secret’. Designed like a traditional American-style milk carton, the outer artwork uses a happy cow cartoon, commonly used in industry marketing propaganda, but with disturbing, negative messaging about the cruel reality of the dairy industry.
Inside, there is a hidden surprise! One of dairy’s hidden ‘slaughter calves’, who are killed for their skins, kebabs and dog food, as well as to be exported throughout Europe. They are the ‘rejects’ of the dairy and beef industry. Our undercover investigation, earlier this year, revealed that almost 65,000 male dairy calves, who were less than one month old, were killed inside British abattoirs in 2020.
This tragic reality of these destitute calves must be told and with your help, we did just that!
The design included ‘industry ingredients’, the latest valuation of the British dairy industry – £4.43 billion – plus the new fate of dairy’s discarded male calves.
The milk carton took weeks to make, and with a few tweaks along the way, we are incredibly pleased with the outcome. We hope that you are too! It is your donations that fund such effective and powerful props for our outreach events, and that enable us to show people why they must stop consuming animal products and choose vegan. You are helping to make such a big difference on the streets of the UK!
The prop was modelled on a young male dairy calf who we met at G. & G. B. Hewitt slaughterhouse, Cheshire, during our Dairy Still Kills undercover investigation earlier this year.
We wanted create a legacy for these poor calves who met such a gruesome and tragic ending. One that no baby should ever have to face. We hope that his story can help save others calves from such a dire fate.
Animal Justice Project would like to say a special ‘thank you’ to each of the grassroots, local animal rights groups which helped us make this huge National Day of Action a reality!

If you couldn’t join an event on the day, you can always order our Dairy Still Kills flyers!
Highlighting the horrendous Oaklands Livestock Centre, owner by renowned calf dealer, Derek Whittall, as well as G. & G. B. Hewitt slaughterhouse, these flyers will make consumers think twice before choosing that bottle of cow’s milk in the supermarket!
We even have factsheets and posters!
Together we can make change happen.
Our undercover investigations are a powerful reminder that abuse and misery for farmed animals is still very much widespread in the UK. By donating today, you can fund our next investigation, and most importantly, get activists back out on the streets to show consumers the urgency of choosing vegan.
Donate today and together we can take on this horror industry.
The cries of dairy calves goes unheard by most, but we can create a better future for all. The violence within a slaughterhouse is no place for a baby, or any animal. If you share our vision of a world where every being is free, please continue your support of our investigations and campaigns. Your help is greatly appreciated and is already making a huge difference.
Thank you!
As always,
For the animals.
