At the start of August, we launched our Cage-free isn’t Cruelty-Free Week of Action focusing on the egg industry. Twenty-one inspiring and passionate teams took part by hosting their own events up and down the country. Some of the events fell outside of the Week of Action with the final three taking place on August 31st, marking an end to this powerful campaign action.
We are deeply moved by the impact of the events. So many members of the public have gone away with our educational literature, 15,000 pieces of it in total! We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who has taken part either by hosting a stall, volunteering at one or door-dropping our flyers. We couldn't have done it without you!
Animal Justice Project would like to say a special ‘thank you’ to each of the grassroots, local animal rights groups which helped us make this huge Week of Action a reality!

We also harnessed the power of digital advocacy by hosting multiple online actions, including a successful X-storm that led to our videos reaching thousands of people. We resubmitted our complaints about the Happy Egg Co. to the ASA once again. Our posters were displayed in The Retreat Animal Rescue Farm Sanctuary for the week, and we also unveiled our new outreach tool.
In Cambridge, we hosted a special event using our newly made educational tool: a custom egg box! Each egg has an industry fact written on it. To get a free plant-based cupcake, members of the public had to pick up an egg, read the facts, and take one of our Rotten leaflets.
The streets of Cambridge were bustling, and we gave away over 200 cupcakes. Our egg box drew in a crowd and really helped the public visualise the horrors linked to their purchasing habits. Our action was incredibly successful, and we'll share lots of content from it on our social media over the next few weeks.
We challenged teams to get creative with our campaign materials. Nottingham Animal Rights won for their innovative use of our posters. They made such an improvement to that ad!
Thank you once again to everyone who participated in our Week of Action. Together, we have helped educate the public about the industry's horrors and urged them to change their consumer habits. We hope you'll continue to support us in our mission to create a more compassionate world for animals.
As always,
for the animals!
