With an increasing movement towards cage-free, our work on free-range and ‘higher welfare’ farming is more important now than ever.
Animal Justice Project’s The Foul Truth campaign has inspired news stories by some of the UK’s largest media outlets such as the Mail Online and Mirror, ensuring farmed birds and veganism stays in the headlines.
After covertly filming over several days, we revealed newly hatched chicks being crushed under trolley wheels and trodden on, live chicks thrown out with egg waste, abysmal care as chicks were graded and thrown between crates, cannibalism, injuries and commonplace death. In a UK-first, we caught on camera the sadistic act of chicks being shredded alive as they are thrown into a macerator.

Despite the impression you might get from the countless adverts showing you cage-free hens living ‘happy’ lives in open fields, the reality is tragically different for the tens of millions of cage-free hens farmed in the UK.
After documenting an abusive history at Gressingham’s farms and abattoir, our latest investigation peels away the sadistic process of catching ducks for slaughter. Ducks showed numerous health issues, including eye and nasal infections, blindness, severe lameness, twisted feet and bent necks. The dead were left to rot amongst the living. For our third instalment of our exposé into the British egg industry, we targeted the highest so-called ‘welfare’ that the British egg industry has to offer by infiltrating farms associated with the British Free Range Egg Producers Association (BFREPA).
The second part of our cage-free investigation exposes the highest welfare free-range brands in UK supermarkets including Marks and Spencers and Happy Eggs. Yet another four farms associated with the British Free Range Egg Producers Association (BFREPA), showing that misleading marketing is just a smokescreen for the suffering that hens endure in cage-free egg farms.
Our Off the Scales campaign raises awareness around the industrial-scale harms of exploiting chickens for 'meat', encouraging consumers to reject animal agriculture's largest sector and go vegan instead. The campaign informs people that exploiting chickens creates immense suffering, creates breeding grounds for our next pandemic, accelerates antibiotic resistance and destroys our environment.
Our open letter lobbies for East Lindsey District Council to pledge for a prohibition of permission being granted for the construction of Intensive Poultry Units (IPUs) in East Lindsey in Lincolnshire, an IPU hotspot.
By rejecting chicken exploitation, we have the potential to prevent billions of animals and millions of humans from suffering and death in the future.

Our celebrity-backed campaign has led the way in exposing UK duck farming in recent years and Down with Duck Farming has one aim: To end duck farming by calling for a complete ban in the UK. We aim to show how this monstrous industry is inherently cruel and unlawful.
An Open Letter to the government, signed by celebrities, industry experts, NGOs and animal sanctuaries reveals how ducks are not afforded even their most basic ‘protections’ on most UK duck farms.
Down with Duck Farming will shake an already dwindling industry.
Our investigation team filmed inside RSPCA Assured chicken sheds and found this part of the industry is 100% Harm Assured. We have taken our campaign to thousands of people on high-streets through vegan food outreach events, demonstrations and huge digital billboards, produced eye-opening videos, and motivated consumers to drop all chickens from their plates, rather than choosing free-range.
For the first time in years, duck farming has come under the spotlight. Animal Justice Project has filmed on duck farms across the UK between 2019 and 2022 under the management of Gressingham Foods – a company rearing around eight million birds each year and the UK's largest supplier of ducks to supermarkets including Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Tesco, Co-op, Asda and Morrisons.
Our vegan ‘duck’ rolls were taken with our pop up food stand to three cities across the UK along with the footage and literature so that people would drop duck for good.
We revealed a shocking catalogue of breaches of EU, UK government and Red Tractor guidelines with ducks hanging upside down for a staggering 14 minutes still fully conscious and shackled before hitting the electric water bath. Workers shouted and and argued whilst grabbing terrified ducks out of crates and hoisting them up onto shackles. The Times covered the story and over 70,000 Animal Justice Project supporters signed to prosecute Gressingham Foods.
