On Monday 9th January, Animal Justice Project Wales teamed up with local groups Cardiff Animal Rights (a group with which we have worked with in the past) and the newly set up group, Cardiff Vegan Action.
Our event on campus formed part of a Cardiff Animal Rights Day of Action. Also taking place on the day were two slaughterhouse vigils and an evening ‘Earthlings Experience’ vegan outreach event in Cardiff town centre. Our event at the university involved local volunteers and campaigners distributing Animal Justice Project material and we received a wonderful reception from students and the public alike.
Some of our volunteers spoke with people who had come to the university on that day to look around and decide whether they would attend. It was a great opportunity to talk to them about the animal experiments taking place there. We also spoke with existing Cardiff University students, many of whom were unaware of the animal use and condemned it. Some even joined up to Animal Justice Project!
We enjoyed so much joining up with local groups as part of the Campus Without Cruelty campaign, we hope to do more regular outreach events like this. And this is just the beginning! We will be sure to keep you posted and announce dates and times for all those who would like to participate. We are always looking for new members to add to our team so be sure to get in touch with me at firstname.lastname@example.org On behalf of the animals,
Rachel Ward, Wales Coordinator
