On Friday 23 September, at noon outside Cardiff University, the Animal Justice Project Wales team launched the Campus without Cruelty campaign. Cardiff University are the largest user of animals in Wales, and in the top ten users in the UK! The turnout was fantastic – with faces new and old from all the different
compassionate groups joining in, including Cardiff Animal Rights. In total, there were over 30 people in attendance! The pavements were busy with students and local residents. Many came over to talk to our volunteers and see what was going on. Many were horrified at the experiments being carried out inside the laboratories of Cardiff University. And shocked at the number of animals being used. We also received new sign ups and offers of help for future events.
A refreshing and compassionate attitude from the people of Cardiff!
Our Wales Coordinator, Rachel, and International Director, Claire, gave impassioned interviews to the media, including Wales Online and Cardiff University student newspaper, Gaur Rhydd.
With the press attention, the wonderfully made banners and placards, a speech, photographers, and a large group of dedicated people, it was a huge success… but this is just the beginning. Animal Justice Project will be focusing on universities nationwide, Cardiff University is just the start.
